The wedding décor, featuring lemons, pomegranates and blue pottery was a reflection of the couple’s ancestry: Palestinian, Egyptian and Dutch.
How they met: The couple met at a house party hosted by the bride. It was towards the end of November and David was sporting his “Movember” moustache. His friends joked that he’d never meet a girl with the ‘stache, but it ended up being his lucky feature.
The ceremony: The couple wrote their own vows, and the bride’s father officiated the wedding in Walker’s Court of the AGO. The bride’s mother read a poem in Arabic and English, and the ceremony was followed by a Zaffeh performance by Palestinian drummers.
Wedding song: The first dance was “So This Is Love” from Cinderella—a timeless classic that conveys that love-at-first-sight feeling.
The details: The smallest details made the biggest impact: the white henna on the bride’s hands, the green garland and colourful fruit, and the Syrian furniture (on loan from the mother-of-the-bride’s home!
